A teenage boy is found killed in his bed, torn to peices, by his mother. So starts an investigation on the killer, this killer has struck before, a brilliant killer is all that is known about him or her. A new cop, who has just been promoted from cadet is on the case, and won't give up to find out who it was. Also, a teenage girl who is a newspaper writer for her school will not give up to find the killer. Since the police chief won't let Ivy near the evidence, she decides to team up with John Benson. Ivy Renolds and Benson begin to fall for each other during the story. Benson finds out that Ivy is so seductive, so beautiful, so independant. But then after another kill, and some more interesting and horrifying clues, John learns that he can trust no one, not even the girl he's falling for.
